MARCH 12, ‘25 // Let’s be honest - we’ve all been there. You spot something fancy in a store, maybe the latest gadget, high-end watch, or an extravagant vacation, and suddenly, a little voice in your head says, “Imagine how impressed people will be!” Fast forward, and now you own it—along with a maxedout credit card only to realize that no one even cared or paid attention. We live in a world that constantly whispers (or shouts), “You need more to be more!” It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that success is measured in material things. But here’s the irony: the people we try so hard to impress are usually too busy trying to impress someone else! It’s like a never-ending game where everyone is chasing after validation that doesn’t even exist. חז”ל imparted a timeless lesson about genuine wealth and fulfillment. (א,ד (אבות – בחלקו השמח ?עשיר איזהו “Who is truly rich? One who is content with what he has”. True wealth has nothing to do with how many things you own and everything to do with how much peace you feel inside. If you’re always chasing more, you’ll never have enough. If you learn to appreciate what you have, you’ll always feel abundance. Next time you’re about to buy something just to impress others, pause and ask: Do I really need this? Is this for me, or am I just trying to prove something? Living with intention means choosing what truly fulfills us, not what momentarily dazzles others. And as we mentioned in the previous writing , at the end of the day, people won’t remember what brand of shoes you wore or how new your car was. They’ll remember how you made them feel, the integrity you lived by, and the warmth you brought into their lives. That is the kind of wealth that never depreciates.
