During allergy season, keeping your windows closed is a good idea. If you have central air conditioning, use a HEPA filter and turn on the fan for a few hours before bedtime to remove the allergen particles that entered the house during the day. Most portable HEPA filters are not as effective as desired. Take a shower before bedtime to eliminate the allergen particles trapped in your hair and on your skin so you can sleep comfortably. Additionally, make sure to wash your linens frequently. By taking these steps, you will give your body some rest from the allergens, allowing your immune system to be more regulated, even during the day. 2) Build up tolerance. Before the allergy season, take a teaspoon of locally grown honey daily. The idea is that the bees collect local pollen and other allergens, which may help your body build a tolerance to those allergens—similar to allergy shots or immunotherapy. This approach is most effective if you start taking the honey before allergy season begins, so your body can get used to the allergens in advance. 3) Take immune-regulating supplements. Start a comprehensive vitamin protocol before allergy season arrives. The following supplements are essential: Vitamin D, Pure Harvest Vitamin C, Optimal Support Probiotics, along with Smiling Herbs Allergy Relief as directed. Quercetin can also help if needed. It is best to avoid immune-boosting herbs (i.e., Elderberry, Echinacea) during allergy season. Stay informed and healthy, and keep smiling!
