NOV. 12, ‘25 // TOPIC #189 – TEACHER APPRECIATION It’s very often the teachers who thank their daughter’s teachers because they know what it feels like and they know what it takes to be a teacher. I would like to make an awareness to those people who are not teachers to also try to be appreciative. It takes so much koach to be a teacher. So, to all of you out there that are not teachers, think about your daughter’s teachers so that you can really show your appreciation. Also, it’s very important to teach your children to be makir tov their teachers and to write a thank you on their test, one small line, like ‘thank you so much for the material that you taught me’, ‘thank you so much for everything you do’, ‘I enjoy being in your class’. Anything like that really makes a very big difference. And if they get trained when they’re young, then they continue on in high school and it really makes a difference to a teacher that’s marking a paper. And they get to hear how the girls are enjoying or what the girl specifically likes about her class. So, it’s even nicer to be specific. TOPIC #189 – TEACHER APPRECIATION “It’s the thought that counts,” but as a senior teacher, please don’t show your appreciation with store-bought baked goods, homemade baked goods or chocolate. Definitely don’t send food based mishloach manos several days after Purim. It won’t be touched and I’m sure you didn’t mean for it to be given to the cleaning help. No diffusers or tchotchkes either! Rather, send a thoughtful note, take a moment to call the principal with a compliment, or call the teacher with some kind words. An extra special meaningful gift idea would be a gift certificate to a local store from the entire class. I gift my young school secretary with a note/chocolate bar every Rosh Chodesh and make sure to constantly compliment her work. Same goes for a bus driver. When Chanukah or Purim come along, write a nice note on an envelope and (if possible) include a tip, or call the manager and say something complimentary. TOPIC #189 – TEACHER APPRECIATION I was a teacher last year and a parent sent birthday pecklech to the class. And she also sent something for the teachers, like a different peckele with a chocolate and an iced coffee. It was really appreciated! TOPIC #189 – TEACHER APPRECIATION I sometimes write on the homework pad something nice that I realize that the teacher did or a teacher taught my daughter. I think the teachers really appreciate to get that feedback. TOPIC #189 – TEACHER APPRECIATION I, personally, as a young mother and a teacher, must say I appreciate something like a toy for the child, something from the Judaica store, or something that can be hung in the sukkah, etc. Some people say rather money than gifts, but I personally feel that if it’s something that can be enjoyed, especially if it’s exchangeable and then you enjoy it around the house, it’s definitely appreciated. TOPIC #189 – TEACHER APPRECIATION I want to stay on the topic of teacher appreciation that many people show their appreciation with gift cards. Before doing that, it would be even more appreciated if people would check to make sure that there’s no expiration date, because it’s a little pity to really go out of their way to show their appreciation to teachers and the teachers are under pressure either to use it or it doesn’t get used. TOPIC #38 – TOOTH TROUBLE There is something called True Minerals that strengthens the teeth and gives them the essential minerals. It is designed for post-whitening treatment sensitivity, but I use it regularly for my sensitive teeth, and it is a gamechanger! It is an all-natural plant-based product. It can be purchased from Gleam Teeth Whitening at 845-533-3191. TOPIC #38 – TOOTH TROUBLE I want to mention that if you have silver fillings, I’ve heard that using miracle clay toothpaste may loosen them. TOPIC #38 – TOOTH TROUBLE Aside from the special toothpastes, I did have such sensitivity without any special reasons, and it was very interesting that it was a very deep cavity that was closed up. But because it was so deep, it was a little sensitive. I also know someone who has very little cavities and very sensitive teeth. She read the Sarno method book and she followed through and it all disappeared. It was all in her mind. She kept on telling herself that everything’s fine, she’s strong and healthy, and it’s just the stress of XYZ, not the tooth pain. It’s subconscious, its stress sitting in your teeth. That method can definitely heal this - and many other - problems. 142
