SEPT 26, ‘25 // was fasting. The seriousness of the day, weighed in on me. I knew that in Shul the men in their white kitlech resemble angels, and the women bereft of jewelry soak their siddurim with their tears. And me? All I could think about was the boat. The boat that man had bought, was a large one. He took pleasure riding the waves, under sunny blue skies for days on end. It was one, big beautiful purchase. There was just one snag: it needed to be maintained and cleaned regularly. As is the nature of such tasks, (and men) the job fell to his wife. She cleaned it time and again, until she was heartily sick of the extra work the boat required. Her husband, seeking to give his boat an upgrade (and his wife an uplift) painted its exterior, and gave his wife a free hand in deciding on a name. The next day, he headed out to the boat, and stopped short when he saw the name his wife had chosen. Red paint, against a white background announced to everybody: Angels in the Marble I 164
